French Presidential Elections To Be Held In 2027

French Presidential Elections to be held in 2027

Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in France on 11 April 2027

The elections may be held earlier under a provision of the French Constitution that allows the President to dissolve the National Assembly

Emmanuel Macron, who was first elected in 2017, is eligible to run for a second term. However, he has not yet announced whether he will do so. Several other candidates have already declared their intention to run, including Marine Le Pen of the National Rally and Jean-Luc Mélenchon of La France Insoumise. The outcome of the election is likely to have a significant impact on French politics and on the future of the European Union. Macron is a pro-European centrist who has been a strong supporter of the EU. Le Pen and Mélenchon are both Eurosceptics who have called for France to leave the EU.
