Bobrovsky Shuts Out Oilers

Florida Takes Early Series Lead

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves as the Florida Panthers shut out the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night.

The Panthers scored all three of their goals in the second period. Aleksander Barkov opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 14:06 mark. Carter Verhaeghe made it 2-0 just over two minutes later, and Sam Reinhart added an empty-net goal with 2:08 remaining.

The Oilers were outshot 35-19 and could not convert on any of their three power-play opportunities. Connor McDavid was held without a point, and Leon Draisaitl had just one assist.

The Panthers now have a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played in Sunrise on Friday night.

Conclusion

The Panthers put on a dominant performance in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, shutting out the Oilers 3-0. Vasilevskiy was solid in net, and the Panthers' offense was able to generate plenty of scoring chances. The Oilers will need to find a way to get more pucks on net and convert on their power plays if they want to even the series.
